Grant Descriptions

The Lyon County Riverboat Foundation (LCRF) currently has two programs through which it distributes grants to non-profit organizations, schools, cities, and counties.

The first program is called the “Mini Grant”. It is non-competitive in nature and many of the applications approved are selected randomly. The maximum amount of this grant is currently set at $3,000. Submissions for this grant are typically accepted from early February through late March. All applicants are invited to an award ceremony, which is typically held in late April, where the selected grants are announced. At least one person representing the organization must be present to accept the award. Check this website, under the Mini Grants tab, to see the specific dates for the current year.

The second program is called the “Competitive Grant”. With this grant, applicants are competing with other non-profit organizations, schools, cities, and counties to receive potentially larger grants, based on the merits of the project.

The maximum amount of this grant is currently set at $350,000. Submissions for this grant are typically accepted from early August through late September. Those being awarded a grant are typically notified later in October. Those receiving grants are invited to an award ceremony, which is typically held in early November. At least one person representing the organization must be present to accept the award. Check this website, under the Competitive Grants tab, to see the specific dates for the current year.

LCRF is using a Grant Management System where the applicants can complete and submit their applications as well as provide receipts and proof of purchase for items involved in the project in order to receive payout for their project.

All applicants should be aware that their applications, and any supporting materials, become public documents after submission.
